Ed Estes is the principal force behind edESTESdesign, leveraging 40 years of multifaceted experience in architecture, urban planning, and design management. His career path has taken him from designing large-scale structures across the United States to shaping the fabric of local communities in the DC metro area.

Ed’s background is distinguished by his time in the public sector, where he served as Planner Coordinator for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and Prince George’s County, and later as an architectural and urban designer for the Washington, DC Office of Planning. In these roles, he was instrumental in coordinating complex redevelopment projects and transit-oriented developments and providing architectural and urban design, graphic design, and visual arts services.

Prior to his public service, Ed built an impressive architectural portfolio featuring stadiums, corporate headquarters, judicial centers, and retail power centers. This broad exposure strengthened his ability to manage the intricate details of large-scale design. Today, he complements his architectural services with expertise in program management, interior planning, and graphic design.

A proud graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelor of Architecture, Ed remains deeply committed to his alma mater as the Founder and Acting Executive Director of the Hampton University Architecture Alumni Association.
